Pre-digital prints from a cheap, borrowed, 2. hand Nikon SLR.

Found the old picture album and started to re-shoot some of the old prints....so the shitty, original quality is even worse now :)

But what the hell...the memories are still crisp and sharp even if the actors are definitely not.

This might become a "dribble" thread, re-shooting and uploading along the way takes a fair bit of time.
Times and dates are on most pics

In front of the Upper Fern Tree Gully Garage, about to hop on for the late Friday afternoon run to the Tas ferry at Port Melbourne.
Lambskin seat cover, ill-fitting TigerAngel leathers (made-to-measure, my arse!) and all...

Goodie and her grossly over-loaded GN250, a bike we bought locally through the "Trading Post" (remember that?).
Her re-entry into riding bikes (after owning+ travelling + commuting on tiny 50cc tiddlers in Europe previously).
Note the lace-up "bike boots", oops!

The FJ12 was a brandnew buy from Fern Tree Gully Yamaha on Burwood Hwy, a last-of-the-breed and dust-collector after I'd sold my R65 Monolever to a mate (how farken stupid can you be?)
A 4-pot just wasn't my kind of bike, ever....but you've gotta learn, eh? Big, heavy, bulletproof!
And as much soul as a rubber mallet.
Never fear though...it wasn't the first 4-pot and it wasn't going to be the last, some just die without ever learning anything...

Nice to see it still existed 20 odd? years later.
The place was just a Bakery/ Cafe in the early days, but easily the best breakfast tucker of the State bar none!.
We always made a dash for it from the 6am ferry-docking @ Devonport, skipping brecky on the boat for the feast at Westbury.

It was May 2015, the weekend I went over to pick-up the XT.

Will have to check out the bakery on a future trip.

The shop was rebuilt twice along the way, the last incarnation was as a Cafe/ Bakery with tables inside as well as out, the old Bakery only had a few outside tables/ benches.
Regardless, brecky was always "above+beyond" .....and certainly pissed all over the Banjo's chain-crap of later years.

Long Timer
Plenty of good memories no doubt Pete. My 1st trip south was on an $800 Yammie XJ650 back in '92 and I still recall the day I rode from Derwent Bridge to Queenstown through 100mm of rain and arriving at the motel the owner wouldn't let me in reception to sign when he saw me heading that way and simply showed me my room and then he bought I reckon every fan heater in the place to my room so I could dry my gear out as he felt sorry for me...lol Took days to get the black dye outta my hands from the new black leather gloves I'd bought for the trip. Bugger of a day weather wise but everytime I do that bit of road in the dry I chuckle thinking what an idiot I was not checking the weather back then...lol

Yes, our first day in Tassie a few years ago was similar. Stinking hot waiting for the boat loading, bucketing down in the morning, wet weather gear strapped somewhere, no time to put it on, just get off the bloody boat.

Fan heater didn't help much that night, but made us feel better.

Tassie weather, unpredictable, one extreme to the other, a bit like Victoria. But unlike Victoria, when things turn pear-shaped, you can't just go home.

Out last trip to Tassie was in Nov '19, first coupla days, howling westerlies in the NW, next few days sub-zero and snow on the central tablelands, next week mid-30's on the east coast. Loved every minute of it though.

Just caught up with Phil (Sidecar Wags), he and his partner (Wendy) moved to St Helens around 18 months back. They were over for a holiday (a caravan stored at Mallacoota), arrived on SoT a week ago for three weeks. On way to Mallacoota got call from friend at Mallacoota, "you can get here, but may not get out, due to rising waters", sit it out for 4 days at Lakes Entrance, decide to return home, got a cancellation on SoT. Trouble is, when they get to Devonport, may not get home easily, rising waters, road closures, may have to go via Lake Leake - what a shame that'd be.
