no red marker in the center of the map?
That's where the bridge is, spanning Connellys Creek.
McColl Lane was the old alignment of M'dah Hwy

Yeah, a red marker. Okay that's where the bridge is. I was expecting some more pics.

Waikawau Tunnel Beach, NZ, North Island

Suckered in!!

....the tunnel is too narrow to turn the bikes around!
....dropping straight onto one of those notorious WestCoast black-sand beaches you don't really want to ride on (but we had to find that out ourselves).

2 bikes through....5 in the chute.

The 660 bogged and overheated....Bernard's little 250 made it back into the track before also sinking to the bashplate

soft and deep like a sponge

How to turn the other bikes around?

A morning scoot down the historic Slovenian Border Ridge Track.

An old military supply route through WW1.
Following the (nowadays) Italian-Slovenian border...and not all that far from Venice. https://tinyurl.com/26zffpoh

I have told this story a few times.. and it will get told many times again..

Riding with the group that day I turn up to this area dying for a leak and being no toilets I decided to ride back 500 or so metres to find a private tree, did my thing and noticed more of the rock walls that were more overgrown.

Walked in and around, and then there was sence of being watched, it was heavy (I am getting goosebumps writing this 15 years later). I have never felt a feeling like that, it was part scarry but mainly just very overwhelming, it was full of sorrow but not hate. Part of me wants to go back and just sit for an hour or 2 and listen to their stories.

I hate to think of the suffering and deaths that went on there, but in a weird way the comradery that would have been there too.

Lest We Forget.

War, what is it good for?
Absolutely nothing!

The most stupid thing mankind has ever come up with.

And I thought I was the only one to"feel the ghosts" up there on that looong ridge.
It's an eerie place, glad we found it nearly deserted.

A very similar, if even more dramatic, place was the day -hike around the tops of Piz Lagazuoi (that cable-car from the Passo Falzarego).
