Corryong Weekend - my version of the Truth

Looks nice, if you still have it, bring it along for the Tassie ride. We will make some great photos with you and your outfit! Not always the boring pics with the technical outfit.

It weighs about 4 to 5 kg, rolls / folds up about as compact as two sleeping bags. I'll bring it, if you carry on your DR when it's not it being worn, which will be 95% of the time.

(what was around in those days?), although I did have Mars black leather Brando jacket, got that from the Mars shop in Elizabeth Street, Melbourne. Remember those days?

If you had the $$, it was Belstaff Waxed Cotton in those days.....and a MARS jacket?
How long did the fitting take? (those guys were well known to just about lock the shop for a while if they liked the looks of you ❤️)

Mmmm (now that you reminded me) ....... I'd forgot I had a Bellstaff jacket in the 70's, I don't recall it being expensive, I'm pretty sure it wasn't because I was (still are) a tight-arse. Also had Waldren Miller waxed cotton jacket and pants, sadly that was all more than 30 years and about 20kg ago.

A Belstaff waxed cotton jacket was $750 in NZ early 80’s. I was earning $65 per week. Suffice to say it was out of the question.
A flimsy ski jacket was all I rode in back then.

Wow! Back in those days, Aussies were alway jealous of Kiwis because your beer as so cheap (compared to Aussie beer), I guess we made up for with other items being cheaper.

I can't remember what I paid in 1976 for my Belstaff, or what my salary was then (although thinking back, guessing around $100 to $120 per week). I do remember it was around August 1976 though. This is because that's when I started with the State Government. And as that was a very good paying job (and being Government) a job for life, I did splash out on some toys, eg. a Honda CB400F, a V8 Holden Kingswood, a Belstaff. Even though I thought I was rich, I can't imagine me paying anymore than ~$100 though.

My first warm "motorcycle" jacket was one I pulled out of the cupboard from my late 60's / early 70's surfie days. Any self-respecting surfie had one of these (about $600 on eBay these days)..

It was toastie warm, but no rain protection - hence one of Dad's old boating jackets.
