Rain blocker jackets are fine for me, I use them often for blocking cold winds. Here on the Old Dunstan Road. Worked great.

A onesie? Cute, dry but not all to practical for day long rides, logistics at some pit stops could be problematic and tiresome, especially if you've over imbided in brown ale and greasies the previous evening.
But there ain't anything funnier than trying to climb into one of those condoms in full gear and boots that are already wet with the first sprinkle....and that sausage skin sticks like velcro.
Or needing a couple of mates to shake, wriggle and peel that thing off for a roadside floorshow that turns viral on TicToc

November 2019, sub-zero temps and snow on the way to Cradle Mountain, had to turn the bikes around (well, we chickened out), next week 35C.
Yeah, you gotta love the Tassie weather, and be prepared.

Over the years I've had a few different PVC jackets and pants. These were some my Dad had left over from his boating days, very heavy PVC, stiff to walk in, not very flexible and uncomfortable when riding - but with welded seams they very effective keeping water out. This was in the early 70's, no budget for proper bike gear (what was around in those days?), although I did have Mars black leather Brando jacket, got that from the Mars shop in Elizabeth Street, Melbourne. Remember those days?
The Brando jacket was more form than function, but did a reasonable job, that is until it got real cold and then over everything I'd don an old Australian Army Greatcoat.
I picked that up at an Army Disposal store in Geelong, still have it, can't bear to part with it.
The current DriRider gear is much lighter weight PVC, flexible, relatively comfortable and the welded seams seem to do the job.
Whilst on the trip down Memory Lane, I still have some my second ever pair of motorcycle gloves (the first were some worn out Stagg gloves gifted by the seller of my first bike) . These were made by Dent (big in their day) and were used for only a few years, they were put in a box in around 1978 when the bike was sold (to put a deposit on a block of land). The box moved house a couple times and was reopened on a few years back - what a pleasant surprise.

Looks nice, if you still have it, bring it along for the Tassie ride. We will make some great photos with you and your outfit! Not always the boring pics with the technical outfit.
