Great stuff!
And thanks God you were on a proper bike, not one of them useless propeller-jiggers :bs

Boodjamulla National Park is closed to visitors after major floods in February 2023. Lawn Hill Camping was open but the place has been decimated. They were removing accomodation that had been knocked off it’s foundations during the floods. They were up to $3 mill in losses and counting. Insurance won’t pay.
Devastating.

Our camp would have been 9 metres under water in the Feb floods.

The Accomodation was a little skewed.

And the restaurant had seen better days too.

There was carnage all the way along this fantastic spot. The power of Mother Nature is something else.
P8190580_Original.jpeg

Hardly needed a fire in the warm evenings. Was still a good thing though. There was so much timber to burn.

After a couple of nights in Lawn Hill it was back to Gregory, then dirt down to Camooweal. A fairly dusty affair as all the Rich folk in their 4wd’s have to drive at double the speed limit most of the time. From Camooweal it was into Mt Isa.

At least the weather was nice, as we were stuck here for 2 days as the beemer had developed a leaking Fork Seal. The Suzuki/Honda shop in town was indicating it’d take 3 days at least to get parts. Until one of the workers went out the back and had a rummage.
They found some parts and booked us right in. We were done by lunch. But it was too late to leave so we wandered around the City and prepared for early departure to Boulia the Next morning.

Starting to get a little outback around these parts.
Stopped at this shelter to brew a coffee.

And then into Boulia to set up camp at the campground.

Just out of Boulia is the turn of for the Donohue Highway, Which then becomes the Plenty Highway. The term “Highway” should not let one believe that it’s a cracking road. It’s not: I‘d say it was less than satisfactory, although I did score my Bulldust wings on this section.
I was about as graceful as a baby Elk on a frozen lake.
Thankfully there were some 4wd’s that stopped to help me right the ship.

This pic was 100km into the Highway. Destination was Tobermorey Station, which was 250km from Boulia.

The Queensland side of the Donohue was quite good. Serviced by stock trucks which you can see the dust cloud approaching. All we could do was find the side of the road, shut the bikes off and wait for the dust to settle. I didn’t get a pic of any of the trucks, too busy finding a place to anchor up when they zoomed past.

About 30m past this sign, the road took a turn for the worse. Really corrugated and super sandy. Slow going!

The Campground was great. Travellers are lucky that these stations provide all the basics and fuel.

The price of fuel….. CHEAP! You’d pay whatever in these remote places.

The Bar lady was running errands in between serving drinks. The little pig followed her everywhere.

And the Sun set’s on quite a magnificent day. 1st time in the NT.
Hope they buy a grader soon!

Wot no pics of the bike having a little nap? Your mates didn't have cameras at the ready (like someone I know on the Great Alpine Road)?

Nice camping spot.

:2thumbs-up:

Nice sunset.

It was about 250km from Tobermorey Station to Jervois Station. But it was fairly slow going.

20230824_111421_Original.jpeg

This was an easy section, with only minimal sand and small corrugations.

$5 per night to camp here. About a 300m stroll to the shower block. No complaints!

Starting young in the NT. This little guy was about 7 or 8 yrs old And his feet just dangled down to the floor. Crank the wrist and we’re away!
