  • Little Tujunga Canyon Rd, from Pacoima to Mint Canyon
  • Lucerne Valley - Big Bear City - Yucaipa through the San Gabriel Mountains
  • Yoshua Tree NP driving from North to South
  • Pines to Palms Highway
  • Renting Bikes: Eaglerider near LA Int. Airport was fine for us
  • Its A Grind Coffee House in Temecula for Coffee and sth sweet
  • where to stay in LA? We recommend Rest Haven Motel in Santa Monica. They have perfect rooms for groups ask for the Cottage rooms. Its quite and a 15 min walk to the Santa Monica Pier. http://www.resthavenmotel.net/

Is that the EagleRider place in LA?

And for interest's sake...did you take out any extra insurance?
(A$25-35/ day as per their website)

My friends already rented Harleys in the US and they had bad luck with various bolts and injection. Thats why we all took extra insurance for picking up bike and rider in the case of technical problems or accident.

Although we bought an extra insurance that puts down the renters limit in case of any incident.

Eagleriders Renting Shop is probably the nearest one to LA Int. Airport. It's on

OK....looking into their insurance page,
https://www.eaglerider.com/motorcycle-rental-insurance
it seems only a VERY rudimentary (state-compulsory) 3.party liability insurance comes with the rental.

For example reservations in California include the following liability insurance:

$15,000 for injury/death to one person.
$30,000 for injury/death to more than one person.
$5,000 for damage to property.

To beef that up to more realistic US!! levels ($300.000 or 1mio cover) is USD15-25/ day.

Then add the "comprehensive/ own damage" insurance which includes the "vacation interruption cover"....as mentioned above @ USD25-35/ day
That's USD 40-60 per day on top of whatever daily rental :eek:

They certainly have a great location though....that's pretty much walking-distance from/ to the airport.

pretty standard I think. Last time we rented in the USA on top of the rental charge was $15/day loss damage waiver (to reduce the liability from the value of the bike down to $1000) and $15 for the $300,000 public liability insurance.

The principle...yes.
The amounts?...sobering!
USD60 is close enough to A$100/day....just for extra-insurance!

There are actually various US/UK insurance mobs that offer those covers for a lot less.
(worth it for anything longer than about a week's rental).
We had one of those when renting cars in US-territory Puerto Rico/ Caribbean
