After 12 years since the last Openroader visit to Corryong, Colin felt it may just be safe to go back....:killingme

A small group departed from Healesville.

Up the hill and onto Skyline Road.

Not much water left.

Colin likes to plan his rides and upload to the GPS on his Fireblade.

When he got to a fork in the road, anyone wanna guess which way he chose?

Yep.

Into Myrtle to grab a bite and collect some more Frolic-ers.

Famous Rog, Uncle Rod, Aprilia Bob, The Fugitive....

....and this fella who I will call the Bright Saboteur.

P1060292-XL.jpg

Famous Rog and some of the Myrtle crew had been teasing him about not being able to keep up with me as he is quite the competitive chap.

Now I have no proof but c'mon what are the chances 1km out of town... W-)

A few beers. Some great food and a night of laughs. Comfy beds in big en-suite rooms.

Next thing it was Sunday.

Lockharts Gap again then Allens Flat and into lunch in Myrtle hosted by a relocated Openroader.

The locals waved us good-bye. Uncle Rod and Aprilia Bob headed via Oxley while the original Saturday Melb 5 continued to Whitfield via the Rose River Road dirt Whitfield Mansfield and Yarck.

By chance we all met up on the Maroondah Hwy a few km before the Giddy Goat.

Thanks to Colin for organising the Frolic.

Trip distance: 1,118km for me.

Lake Eildon at Bonnie Boon couldnt get much lower could it?

The lake only refilled a few years ago, and it went from almost bone dry to full in the space of one very wet season from memory. For many years during the 2000s there was no water at all under the bridges at Bonnie Doon, and the lake bed was full of motocross and 4WD tracks.

When we went past there on the weekend, you can see how quickly it is currently draining by the damp ring around the water line. The water is receding faster than the bank can dry out.
