Last of the pack, I missed all photo opportunities at the crossing of the West Tanjil River... a neat little crossing at an even neater, little picnic spot!!

A bit further up the Simpsons Rd., some logging has created fantastic views to the north and west...

The going gets slow....too much to gaze at and enjoy.

Still baffled where that sealed road is going on that hillside over there....
not "ours" , nor the BawBaw Rd.....another one to check up on.

Could be....looks like a fairly recently logged area, can't imagine anyone laying asphalt just for a few weeks of logging......maybe Ballantyne's Rd., can't find anything else on Gmaps/ first glance.

As discussed over lunch...

Here's a quick map of where we came "out of the bush" on Mt. Beenak Rd. and turned onto the tarseal of the Yarra Junction-Noojee Rd. with its new 80kmh speed limit between Gladysdale + Powelltown. https://goo.gl/maps/wLoQbGmwJpS2

I saw the small SUV about 7-8m off the road parked in the grass on the left, the thing "smelled" of a camera-car but I didn't turn around to check for the usual flash-bang stuff hanging off the front, as the position in the grass and that far off the road wouldn't make any sense for a legal position to take happy snaps.

Going by memory alone, the camera car was about 1km or so up the road from where we joined the asphalt. There was NO speed advisory sign at all until the old 80kmh zone + sign just west of the Learmouth Creek Rd. junction outside Powelltown ....about another 5km further east of the camera-car (I checked again on the return leg).
Coming out of the State forest and not aware of the recent changes with no signs around to advertise the fact, it was safe to assume the previous 100kmh limit still applied.

If anyone is getting a ticket in the mail, please post up here BEFORE PAYING anything....
I'll most certainly contest any fines and will set up a copy+paste objection.

You do know it's been 80kmh zone for over a year now....

Not that the Baw Baw Rd. has ever been short on surprises...

Goodbyes and shaking hands on a great day... somehow it felt like nobody wanted to leave first.

A last shot "from the road" to seal the day.
Looking towards Monbulk/ Emerald, Mt. Dandy to the right.

Fumina_033.JPG

No coming-home without a "trophy"...
Nipped into the strawberry farm in Wandin catching the owners just before closing shop for the day.
It's one of those places where you taste-before-you-buy.
Which made Doug happily go for 2 of those mega-punnets.

If he only could've gotten that top-box opened!!
I'll leave that story to him... :bs
Hope you got them all home in one piece, mate...or was it
"just add rum and suck it out of the topbox through a straw"?:killingme:killingme

Thanks to all for a cracker of a day!

No....not the whole stretch. Going east from Gladysdale there was a short 80 section just out of town...then the 100 to the ~ Learmounth Creek Rd. before Powelly

Now it's all 80 from Yarra Junction to Mt. Baw Baw with a few 60's around the towns.
Quite a few newish-clean-looking signs on shiny metal posts around proclaiming "New Speed limits apply" though...without showing what they are.

Then again, haven't been around there for a while...W-)

Was through there a few times in Nov Dec and it was still 100kph from the Ada Tree turnoff to the dog leg just before the Noojee junction.
