Rutherglen

The Rutherglen silos are still in use but no longer serviced by rail. The old railway tracks have been converted into one of the many rail trails for bicycles that are cropping up. Great stuff as I love my treadlies as much as my beemer. We often ride from Rutherglen silos to Whagunyah, across the old bridge to Corowa then back to Rutherglen via the new Federation bridge and All Saints winery. Wish I could fit a bike back on my beemer. Willo probably could! :bs

I reckon you could scull 3 pots waiting for that bloody light to change! :bang:

Yeah it's quicker to take the new bridge then get into Corowa from the north.

Dookie

Dookie pub.

Dookie silos. Look at the top of the silo. An opera singer in red!

Took the photo of the Dookie pub today, but the silo photo is from Oct 2014.
Dookie has a special place in my heart originally due to cycling in the area but more recently, the Dookie Earth Festival. There was a government grant from Regional Arts Victoria called Transforming Small Towns. Many many towns put in submissions for the $350,000 and Dookie got it.
That's THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!
The money was used for a 1 day festival and although that was a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a party, it was totally awesome. Next time you're in Dookie, go look in the quarry. It's like being inside a volcano with high rock faces for 340 deg. The night of the Dookie Earth Festival they had a concert inside the quarry. Bit like Pink Floyd Pompeii.

PS. L-R Zo, Jazz, George and of course you know who in front.
