Doubt it was a "waste"...those things are little miracles nowadays. Nice bit of kit. Really enjoyed a gawk and read of the latest TT2000 installment, that Quad tour looks amazing. I always wondered what the back country of Wanaka would look like, cheers for the pics. That little detour at Hawea Flat got you ohh-soo-close to the start of the road along the shore to Dingleburn, a true stumper. ![]() https://dxcprod.doc.govt.nz/globalas...k-brochure.pdf Next time :-)

Looks interesting. I'd actually wondered about having a look up the other side (turn off by the Neck) on Meads Road but flagged it due to the coming weather.
Lake Hawea is such a stunning lake (parked right next to another lovely one) but man she was wild when we went through! |

Kidds Bush Campsite at the end of Meads Rd. is one BEWDIFUL spot even for a picnic or swim, can't remember if the continuation into the "Something" cattle/ sheep Station is open to the public though. It's in the same DOC Hāwea Conservation Park as Dingleburn. Even well worth the ride in/ out above the pebbly beach with that breathtaking backdrop... Kidds Bush is getting more traffic through the main season nowadays, it's listed in various Camper/ Camping guides etc. https://bit.ly/3v3q4xd Lake Hawea sure is a stunner, but in those conditions pretty bloody cold, too, I guess. Neat (and cheap) stay in the area Hawea Pub https://bit.ly/3dBtrW7 https://bit.ly/3n3WDs7
