The oz Adventure riders have a meeting on the Halloween weekend every year, the first few were at Tibooburra and the last 2 at Byrock, 100km south of Bourke in NW NSW
I headed out of Sydney friday AM heading for Narrabri. Up the Putty rd, turn left just after Bulga anf follow the Golden Hwy through Denman, Merriwa, Casillis, Coolah, Binnaway and Coonabarabran then up the main drag through the Pillaga to Narrabri. it's a pleasant run, just enough corners and hills to be interesting.

The country is looking fantastic, I havent seen it this green for years !!

We headed out oftown past the Australia Telescop and onto the dirt across to Pillaga, we stopped at the hot bore for a refreshing dip, excellent !!!. It's a lot smaller then the bore at burren junction but nicer. incidently, there still talking about closing the Burren juction bore but for the moment they are still open

More dirt across to Come-by-Chance and then to Coonamble, a few sandy patches, just enough to make it interesting at 110 though a few of the guys found it a bit sphincter puckering :)

Lunch at the Coonamble bowling club and then 50km of tar across to Quambone. Back onto the dirt along the Gibson Way through the Macquarie Marshes. A fanrastic ride !!, not much water in the marshes but it was very green and heaps of birdlife. I wouldn't like to ride through here if it was wet, it's all blacksoil. SOmeone had driven through recently when it was wet and there were 2 deep solid ruts all along the narrow track but good hardpack between them for the bikes.

More dirt with a few bits of tar across to Coolabah then the 40km run up the tar to Byrock. the sky had been threatening rain all day making us a bit nervous but no rain thank god or I think we'd have been camping somewhere in the bush.

Finally at Byrock, time for a cleasing drink or 2, a few riders were already there with more rolling in later. The Mulga Creek hotel is a great place, very friendly publican and they looked after us really well. The pub has a couple of motel rooms, a small bunkhouse and a really nice camping ground out the back.

The trip home was a bit of a pain, 750km straight down the "Black snake" and it rained the whole 10 hours !!! so I didn't take the camera out of the tankbag, I was a drowned rat when i got home.

I was amazed at how green the country was compared to 12 months ago, even up around Bourke and from Dubbo to Sydney it's positively lush.

"The Pudding" was a no show, apparently it's been snaffled to go on the BMW safari, hope it copes alright hanging out with the new yuppie BMW owners !!!.
