On one of Timbo's tours in 2014 we stayed at the Royal Standard Hotel and our jaws dropped when the Seafood Platter was brought out to another table.

Needing to get away for a couple of days to commiserate on the sudden disintegration of our planned Europe holiday, (and also because we've barely taken our bikes out of the garage at all in the past 6 months) we loaded up the bikes yesterday morning for a long weekend getaway.

The steps out the back have been upgraded since that last visit.

It only took us five and a half years to get back here after vowing to return and attack the platter ourselves in 2014, but we walked down to the pub last night and ordered it. We didn't quite get through the whole lot, but we gave it a good crack.

It certainly didn't disappoint. The contents changes depending on what is seasonal, but ours consisted of oysters, flake, flatty tails, scollops, fishcakes, prawns, calamari, chips and salad.

Heading home tomorrow (Sunday 15/03) and planning to stop for lunch at the Toolshed in Noojee at around midday in case anyone is looking for an excuse to go for a ride. The parmas there are great too.
