Grand Ridge Rd - 13-3-11

Decided to ride the entire length in one hit for the first time since '83 on my old RD400. Have done small and large sections over the years, solo and in groups, & at various speeds.
Left Gembrook about 9.30am, headed towards Tonimbuk.

Looking towards the coast, near Carrajung

Then back home through Moe, Noojee, Yarra Junction.
Tanjil South, just before the brown stuff hit the whirly thing

It really pissed down from there to home. It was very interesting dodging flying bark, falling branches & cars doing about 20kmh.

A great days riding, about 480kms all up.

Getting the hang of it
Steve,
How was the quality of the road towards the Tarra Bulga end? Last time it defeated me. Huge lumps of rock (too big to be called gravel) and the inevitable puncture and I had to hitch a ride down to Churchill. I think they do a lot of work on the road for the logging trucks? From your photos the surface looks pretty good.

That section is pretty good at the moment, looks like it's just had a rebuild

Nice sand/clay mix that is about 20 / 30cm deep, well packed down. The worst part was the Boolarra - Foster road, looks like a lot of logging trucks through there at the moment.
