Doug arrived at the Gembrook meet point complaining of too much Christmas cheer and did his best to explain away the suspicious wet patch. :bs

Riddle me this – how many austourers does it take to inspect a camelback….?

Four – three to inspect and one to take the photo.

Out of Gembrook and into the state forest.

We followed the power lines into Gippsland.

A short cut over the dam wall south of Erica.

Strange offerings in the bush.

Doug in action.

Plenty of Pete’s bathtub potholes, some fast open gravel and paved goat tracks delivered us to lunch in Briagolong.

Whilst Steve headed for home, Pete harassed an emu chick until it tripped over its own feet.

Some of doonap’s Christmas card roads delivered us to Bruthen.

Camp was set in record time.

A short stroll over the bridge, up the hill and through town.

And we had arrived! :glu

We did our best to ensure that Williamson may miss out. :bs

Pete and Doug favoured the stout. For me, the wheat and pale ale went down a treat…

Looks like we may have the need for a few more of these brewery weekenders – we were told a microbrewery is soon to open in Buchan and another in Mitta Mitta. :woot:

We decided to give the pub a miss and headed to the takeaway for dinner.

They cooked up big plates of burgers and ooh look, stubbies…

The celebration continued on the way back to the caravan park and on and on…

Great photos. Bruthen camping with a brewery within strolling distance - what more could you want ?
When do the 3 Wise Men make an appearance ?

I don’t think any of us slept very well, as we all woke up very tired…

Lots of corners and back roads on the way to breakfast at Swifts Creek.

O the irony. It made me smile.

The view towards Omeo.

My Tiger made happy crackle noises on the over run into the corners and growled on the way out. :woot:

Action shots on the way to the Blue Duck Inn.

Bogong High Plains.

A little exploring above Falls Creek resort.

A very smooth and flowing ride down to Mt Beauty.

Lunch at the good bakery in Myrtleford and then past Lake Buffalo.

Into the forest again.

Gentle Annie was jam packed so we set up in Whitfield.

The master and the student. :bs

Onto the Whitfield pub for dinner. It was almost like they were expecting us…

When our $20 burgers arrived, we thought they were playing a practical joke – FFS they were the size of party pies! :bang:

A very early start. Bikes packed and underway by 7am ensured a clear run on the Mansfield-Whitfield Rd.

We stopped to explore a hidden look-out.

Further up the hill.

After the twisty bitumen finished, we turned right.

And began the climb up the hill.

One final photo stop and it was time to slip down the other side.

Big cooked breakfasts at the Midland Holiday Park and then the Strathbogies. :woot:

Beyond Ruffy.

Bitumen into the highlands and then the final ride into Yea.

Trip distance: 1,011 km
