So thought i'd make a bit of a rolling thread of the day rides and trips I'm doing as I explore new roads down South and about on the Terra.

I kicked things off last year (just) with this mix of dirt and tar

So I picked up the bike before Xmas, but with all the moving and work and busy weekends it was a bit before I could get it down south and then go for a ride. The opportunity came on the last day of the year. Hot and Windy but went for a reccy ride up through Elderslie via Millvale Rd, and through Hollow Tree Junction to near Hamilton, then back towards New Norfolk and up to again to Hollow Tree Junction to retrace my track back to Church Road through the back of Dromedary

Happy with the bike, no more Wuka King and my dash temp is a lot closer to the correct temp! Got my 2" Roxx risers on too

Nice to hear the bike's running well....looks like most of the TR's have come out pretty good after the fix.
Lots of great stuff to snoop around in sorta soth-east of Ouse/Bothwell line...try Den Rd. next time, and Bluff Rd. (C183, all gravel) is a cracker for South-Tassie scenery. Black Hills is a sweet, sweeping backroad-run... all sealed to about 1.5 lane width :drool:

Yesterday I had an RDO and the sun was shining, so I nipped out for a couple of hours before heading to the In Laws' for dinner

I'll have to recreate this one with pics sometime later, sorry, didn't stop! It was hot and sunny and the views looked great, trust me.

I planned this loop loosely before heading out, and looks like I followed it pretty well as expected. Teatree Road and Fingerpost road are standard affairs, then onto the A3 for a short burst through some twisty bits to Runnymede where the turn off onto Woodsdale Road (C212) winds up and over past Levendale Primary School seemingly in the middle of nowhere. I chose not to continue on the C212 where it turns to dirt and changes name to New Country Marsh Road over to Tunnack, and instead continued on the Woodsdale Road, now the C311, which then becomes the C318, then the C310, finally terminating at Tunnack Road, C312 again... Simple! I know a bunch of ATs went all the way through the C310 and C318 to Buckland on a previous trip.

From Tunnack Road I could have ducked up Stonor road to the C313, Rhyndaston Rd. Somewhere near Rhyndaston is a train tunnel on the Main Line. My work sends paper out in shipping containers by train to Burnie, so one day I'd like to get a shot of a train approaching and or exiting the tunnel. Not this day though.

South through Tunnack to Eldon Road, C342. It starts out as a nice little sealed road winding down a hill, then a tight left hander spits you out onto gravel as it follows Burns Creek down to meet the Caol River, then back to seal for the bit into Colebrook.

The great twisty section of the Colebrook Road B31 brings me into Campania, where a said train carrying Containers and ISO tankers heading North is rumbling through.
Tee Tree Road gets me back to my starting point again.
Temps in the low 30s have me sweating just rolling the bike back into the garage before I can peel back to shorts and t shirt

Made the decision during the week to have a crack at Jeffrey's track, a 4wd through way from Crabtree to Lachlan.

As I needed fuel and the Brighton Transport Hub is just around the corner I headed there first. The fuel station has 95 octane cheaper than the fuel docket price at the servo.

Now the boghole section starts. I can imagine how much water these would hold in the winter. Thankfully not too wet but still a bit. As I was approaching a hiker heading the other way the back slipped out and down I go. Of course, had to be the only time to drop it with a witness!

Could be a link from Glenfern Road (or Plenty Valley Road) to Judd's Creek Road.

Not sure if it's just my fitness level at the moment, lack of riding and skill or tyres or all of the above, but that felt more "level 3" than 2. Nothing we did in NZ or Tas (the M Roads or Jacobs or Mt Barrow - I have driven my road car up there) compared. I would not want to attempt again in the winter either with the above conditions as they are, especially not by my self. I feel sore today, but I'll probably be feeling it even more tomorrow. The pics just don't show how steep and how rough it is.

The drop was very low speed, almost a lay down really

I would not want to attempt again in the winter either with the above conditions as they are, especially not by my self. I feel sore today, but I'll probably be feeling it even more tomorrow. The pics just don't show how steep and how rough it is.

The drop was very low speed, almost a lay down really

What I absolutely should have done, was drop my tyre pressures down, would have made it a LOT softer. Ah well, If I can make it through with road biased tyres at road pressures then I'm not doing too bad!
