2017_ NY-day... lunch at Mt. Wombat

A promise of rain and showers...which turned into blue skies and sunshine.
Only Squiz + K1W1 showed up, then a surprise addition by Dave, who'd patiently waited at Mt. Wombat.


The Acheron Way fog





gave way to some grippy, damp clay near Taggerty

2017_Noojee + Baw Baw....sideways

Mid-January

With "Fumina" being the toast-of-the-month and some great recce-ride by Twowheeler-Pete ( story here) and Steve (yarn here) it was time to strap it all together and make a day of it.


While the Old Vesper road is slowly disappearing...




... the road to Fumina is definitely well looked after...







...for some scenic backblocks-fun....









...before some sweet peg-scratching up the Mt. Baw Baw twisties.





...for a good old cuppa and some bulldustin' up the top.

2017_Vic High Country: new frontiers

Mid February....and chancing the record temperatures, the sizzling heat turned the high country into a frying pan.....just to finish off the 4-day run in grey drizzle and a lousy 13C on the run home.


Some new byways near Mansfield...




...turning into a coarse-rock dustbowl just above Lake Buffalo.





A dip in the lake and some coldies in the treetops above Myrtleford did the trick.




Some overgrown twintrack around Yackandandah before chasing the twisties.





...and more new tracks around the Gibb Range and Nariel Gap.




Corryong at your feet, Australia's Highest in the distance






The promise of the "golden morning"....









An old bridge....





...and the long-awaited "calendar-shot" track near Omeo.






Finally rolling into cooler climes towards Buchan, a beer at the new pub and the final run into Bruthen for the meetup with the OpenRoader Crew.










New roads + tracks, awesome riding, stumping scenery, head-scratchin' stories, cold beer and endless laughs....
