Thanks for the pics and comments, folks....good stuff
We certainly enjoyed the day and the Strathbogies were as deserted as always, sprouting some extraordinary light and sparkle.
Surprised to see all the campers along the creeks and reserves, but it was the
Australia Day Weekend after all.
Good to see the "Williamsons" and "Squizzys" at the Strathbogie Store, as well as a Father+Son combo from Shepparton on a new 1000Strom.
Faz didn't make it ( and missed a cracker) due to tech problems on the KLR (a KLR and "tech"??wtf?)...and I'd LOVE to see TimSF and "his Falcon" in the ruts, rocks and trenches of the Dry Creek Rd....it'd join a KTM on a flatbed truck for the way home for sure
Some more pics...
And they kept rocking up
To stay with the "theme" of the day
Great to see the 2-up of Matt and Clare (Claire?) bouncing through the countryside.....who , by the end of the day, started to ask some serious questions regarding licenses, which bike to start off with.... and all that.
On farm-tracks above the Goulburn River Flats
It wasn't the smoothest of tracks.... and good practice for what was to follow.
Slobber!!
Into the Strathbogies we go...
Steve, who'd come all the way from Garfield for this
Then things got a bit busy with trying to find some stupid memorial, some excellent gravel-roads and tracks, some rock+root hopping and sliding around on coarse gravel and fine, pebbly stuff along the plantation tracks and all that....someone even had an electrical problem on a V-Strom!!
Nice, open running through the afternoon....the Strathbogies at their best.
A big Thanks to all for coming along, 11 bikes was a bit of a surprise but also turned the day into what it was : Un-missable!!
Who would've thought it'd all turn out like this after a grey, rain-threatening morning?
YAYYYY!
