Xmas holidays.....the time, when the coastal seam is stretched to the max with victorian holiday makers.
This time, add the bananabenders who're getting washed south by the floods.

So....bugger the beach, sand and general chaos along the coast, let's head into the hills.
Shove a book or 2 into the backpack and find a nice, sunny place in the lee of a pile of rocks, breathtaking views across the ridges of the Vic High Country at your feet....yeah, sounds good. :glu

What a great week it was... different for sure, no bikes, no new place every night.
Just a few days in the great outdoors of the Vic High Country. Who woulda thought that a "ski-resort" can put on such a show.

LOVE IT!! :lao

I don't know what to say except WOW!!!:wow::clap:Some superb photos there Pete of some absolutely beautiful country. I must have been great to spend a week up there.:so

Remember I'm from QLD and have never even seen snow; are those grass stips between the trees in some of those photos ski runs or whatever they are called?

On the money, mate!

Cleared of gum-trees and the biggest rocks, then re-vegetated with the scrubby alpine heath to keep the ground together and have a tough and resilient base for when the snow comes.

The whole mountain-top is also riddled with electrical conduits (to power and control the ski-lifts) and pipework of the snow-making machinery (those pipes sticking into the sky in some pics).
Hardly any of it is visible, though...
Main activities through summer are hiking and mountain-biking, with the main chairlift from the Horse Hill carpark taking the mountain bikers to the top of their runs.

Some serious stuff there, too

Thanks Pete. I never knew they did the mountain biking up there. This Ol' Fat Bloke prefers a motor in his bikes. They sure don't wear much in the way of protection considering the speeds they seem to be travelling at in some of those downhill sections.:wow:

Yo, those kids are scary!!
At least they DO wear a helmet (no chairlift ride otherwise).
Incredible to watch though....they're as brilliant on the bikes as what they are on skateboards/ keyboards and all the other mod-fangled stuff.

Long Timer
Our 2nd son used to race down hill mountain bikes until his mother went to watch him race. No more racing for my 21 year old baby.

Took all my strength not to drag him off of the bike and lock him in the car on the day. :wow:

The photos are beautiful Glitch. Looks like you and Goodie had a lovely relaxing trip.
