Farewell, mate...you're now enjoying the biggest brewery of all!

And while onto breweries...some serious enquiries at the Buchan Pub resulted in the publican categorically ruling out any brewing activities for the future, the sign at the door encouraging to “try our own brew” is a local joke only.

On the McKillops Rd.

Victoria’s deepest Gorge is a hard one to capture, that slash in the landscape certainly is a deeeep one.

It’s massive....and absolutely stunning when walking around that little gum-tree and all of a sudden the world’s at an end and there’s a HUUUGE hole in front of you.

alp_color13_031a.JPG

Thankfully nothing much has changed in practical terms despite its now official C611 VicRoads status....the McKillops Rd. drop is still a true “I’ll-shit-my-daks” descent!!.... which leaves absolutely no room for ANY error at all.

The drop is near enough to vertical to make any airborne moments very long ones... go too fast, hit the brakes too hard, tuck under the front...and it’s most likely the last goof-up you’ve ever made.

It’s a magic road, stunning scenery and when the Snowy River comes closely to run parallel, it’s one of the few truly outstanding Aussie bush roads.

OII, mate!!!....there’s a spare hoop for the 800!! Let's fit that!!

alp_color13_059b.JPG

Rather than pushing on to Adaminiby, the non-tire-fixing-crew sets out to find a bed in Jindabyne, which doesn’t prove too easy as there’s a Trumpy-meet in town....actually, wouldn’t be surprised to see Roger-Lodger any minute.

It didn’t happen though....but the Spokster’s pick of accom proved that he’s got an unfailing knack to find a decent bed!!

The Acacia Snowy Motel is well away from the tourist-hubbub, yet only a few minutes’ walk to shops and pubs....and run by an awesome couple, Allan and Gillian!!

Do yourself a favour next time you’re in Jindy, enjoy a phenomenal breakfast buffet which is worth every cent asked for and have a fantastic stay.

There’s even a shortcut from the shower to the bike!!

Great tucker and an open grill at the Alpine Gables
is only a short walk away...thumbs up to Vivek!! Great find, great choice!

Hey, you've managed to make me look more competent than I really am.

Quit with the uploading of photos so quickly. I have barely even sorted through my 360 photos yet to find which ones to keep. Looks like I'll be taking a sickie tomorrow so might get around to it then.

Thanks guys, for a cracker of a ride.:scull:

I better pull the finger out and post the pictures I took. So here it is.

Be warned though - I am no good at describing them and my professional looking camera is just one thats on my 2 year old samsung phone. so the quality is also not great. i do what i can with it.. :bs

no photos upto Buchan really. We were mostly commuting with a few interesting bits here and there.

But on day 2 first stop at Suggan Buggan was a sorry sight. Pete got excited getting on this bike though.

I am still not convinced entirely whether a 400m walk was worth this. but anyway apparently the biggest gorge in Au. Looked fascinating.

Mckillops road was top notch. Need to be careful not to drop the bike there. One could end up straight down 500m:looney:

We stayed at Jindabyne after Mark's Triumph decided to break down again. Bloody euro bikes; if they're not leaking oils or failing electronics they're losing tyres... :bs:bees:

Next morning Wainui road was the first dirt road off the rank.

I wanted to check out the ACT border but Pete wouldnt let me go...although ti was only 3 km away from this point. I did get the sign pointing to Canberra though. Good enough for me..

The ride from Jingellic to the mysterious little ferry trip was godsmacking. 56 kms of dirt was done under 45 mins by a group of 6. Every was bloody hammering it..:woot::woot:

We then got on a ferry to cross the NSW/Vic border to get back in to Victoria again.

Awesome views from the ferry too

At the end of the day we managed to sneak into the quiet and lonely town of Tallangatta. I managed to get everyone a free stubbie holder from the motor inn we stayed in and got beers from. Nothing quite like the winning feeling when you drive a hard bargain ...:dollars:

Next morning we were treated to these views
