Oh Jeezaz!!
They're getting worse than Photobucket!

With all your excellent stuff and broad exposure across various platforms and forums it might be time for your own little "parking spot" (domain + webspace)...or something like a SmugMug acct.
I'd be going bonkers if those Google clowns would screw around with my pics all the time...and if this old dummy can handle a domain and webspace it'll be a 2-minute romp in for someone like yourself.

The difference is that Photobucket was designed with sharing photos via a link online as it's main intention, whereas Google photos was intended as a photo storage facility and being able to share images directly via a link for some time was just a happy byproduct of that, but when they tightened the security that was disabled.

Time to just stop trying to use google photos for a purpose for which it is not intended and just move on with life and some other photo linking method.

Flickr solves the problem. Even a free account is adequate for most people.

Actually, Google used to be good back when it Picasa online. It had really good photo sharing and of course was sweet as for the blog.

I'm too mean to pay for anything so will persevere...

I hope you all can see the picture above ^

Yup.
Guess, Google wants to keep it all "in-house" (otherwise, what's the use of a "photo-storage place" if you can't do anything/ link them somewhere, somehow?)
But if the pics don't even show in their own products (Blogger etc) they certainly shot themselves in the foot

(as did Photobucket with those $400/year accounts....it'll be a looong time IF they ever make it back, and it certainly doesn't look like it thus far).

Flickr has also had its ups +downs along the way, the only stable freebie for its entire existence seems to have been Imgur, from what I've read.

SmugMug comes to around A/NZ$100/ year which is pretty reasonable for what they offer (and deliver!).
I'm happy to pay another 50 bux on top per year to be entirely independent and link to my heart's content, without fail or changes, ever.
