Re: Banditrider's Pootles
Looks like you guys have been lucky with the weather....perhaps not for the start, but most of it looks pretty good.
Btw...how's Nick going? (the "crasher" from a few pages back). Another thing....I came across a RR (sadly no pics) of this route, just west of Whanganui. https://goo.gl/maps/OhYnU We rode up the single-lane tarseal along the Waitotara River to the Ngamatapouri school and the bridge of the Makakaho Rd. but returned the same route. Sweet as!! But that RR mentioned some fabulous riding with stunning vistas along most/ all of the Watershed Rd. to the Kauarapaoa Rd. turnoff....then a choice of more of the same tacking south on the Rangitatau East Rd. or cutting south-east to the Whanganui River at Kaiwhaiki via a couple of narrow valleys. https://goo.gl/maps/7ssqT With all the riding you've done in those areas...done that loop yet? Bummer there's no bridge/ punt at Pipiriki for even more excellent choices... THAT'D be something!! |
Re: Banditrider's Pootles
I've been to the end of the Waitotara Road (ends at a farm): http://banditrider.blogspot.co.nz/20...t-in-naki.html
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zBFOwmePWH...0/GOPR2106.JPG Also taken Rangitatau East Rd a fair way up past the turn-off to Kauarapaoa Road (now that's a neat ride) but didn't realise you could get right round. Definitely worth a nosey sometime... |

Figured you would've been there, making a loop out of it would be neat. Thanks for the links, too...there's some great reading and neat pics  |
